Privacypolicy.
What we collect, why we hold it, who ever sees it, and how to get it back or have it deleted.
Last updated 1 August 2026.
This policy explains how bceujobs handles personal data when you use this website, create a candidate profile, or apply for a role through us. It is written to be read by the people it describes, not only by lawyers.
Version 2026-08-01, in effect from 1 August 2026. When you register we record which version you agreed to and when, so that what you consented to can always be established.
Who is responsible for your data
- This site trades as: bceujobs
- Controller: [legal entity name]
- Company number: [company registration number]
- Registered address: [registered address]
- Contact for data questions: [privacy contact email]
We act as the controller for candidate data: we decide what is collected and why. Employers who receive a shortlist act as controllers for their own copy of it.
What we collect
Every field we store belongs to a category, and the category decides who may read it and how long we keep it.
- Identity data — your name, date of birth, nationality, address, passport and document numbers.
- Professional data — work history, skills, languages, licences, qualifications and certificates.
- Special category data — medical fitness certificates and police clearance certificates, where a destination country requires them.
- Operational data — your applications, their stage, interview times and messages.
- Technical data — the IP address recorded with your consent, and the minimum needed to keep your account secure.
Why we are allowed to hold it
- To provide the service you asked for — creating your profile, putting you forward for roles, arranging interviews and managing a placement.
- Because the law requires it — verifying identity and right to work.
- Because you gave explicit consent — medical fitness and police clearance certificates. We ask for this separately, at the moment you upload the document, never bundled into a checkbox at registration.
- Because you opted in — staying in our talent pool after an unsuccessful application, and marketing email. Both are optional, separate, and can be withdrawn at any time without affecting anything else.
Who sees your data
Your profile is not public. There is no public profile page, and employers cannot browse candidates.
When you apply and your application reaches the stage where an employer reviews it, that one employer receives a redacted version of your profile — built from an explicit list of shareable fields, not your full record with parts hidden. They see your country, never your address. They see that you hold a licence and when it expires, never its number. They never see medical or police clearance documents, or any staff notes about you.
bceujobs staff see what their role requires. Every access and change is written to an audit log.
We also use service providers to run the platform — cloud hosting, email delivery, document scanning and video hosting. They process data on our instructions only.
Where your data is held
Candidate data is stored in the European Union. Where a placement requires sending data to an employer outside the EU, we do so only with appropriate safeguards in place.
How long we keep it
Retention runs from the end of our relationship with you, and the most sensitive data has the shortest life.
- Medical and police clearance certificates — 6 months, then deleted.
- Identity data — 12 months, then deleted.
- Professional data — 24 months, if you opted into the talent pool.
- Financial and placement records — 7 years, because we are required to keep them.
Your rights
- Get a copy. We produce a machine-readable archive of your profile, applications, documents and certificates, with a plain-language description of each file.
- Correct it. Most of your profile is editable directly; ask us for the rest.
- Have it deleted. See below.
- Withdraw consent for the talent pool, marketing, or a special-category document, at any time.
- Complain to a supervisory authority — [lead supervisory authority].
Deletion, and what survives it
When you ask us to erase your data we delete your profile, your documents, your certificates and your account, and we remove you from our search index.
Two things do not get deleted, and we would rather say so than imply otherwise. Records of a placement and its finances are kept for the statutory period with your identifying details stripped out. The audit log is kept in a form that cannot identify you, because we are obliged to be able to show who did what.
If you have an active placement, erasure cannot complete until it ends — there is a live contract and record-keeping obligation. We will tell you the date it becomes possible and carry it out then, rather than simply refusing.
